How our words get us in trouble! We’ve all—except the littlest children who haven’t learned how to talk yet—used words wrongly. We’ve all babbled on when we should have kept quiet. We’ve spouted off when we should have held our tongue. We’ve said mean words against others. We miss the irony of our bitter words—we even talk harshly about those who talk too harshly or too much! When the crowd cries out in anger against Jesus, He turns the words around as a blessing. King Jesus, the King of the Kingdom of Life, lets His blood flow for you. For your cross and evil words, for your self-righteousness and hatred, this blood brings remission of sins as you drink it, as it was splashed on you and your children in holy baptism, and as it is sprinkled on you this very night through the words the Father has used to reveal His saving work.
